Eleven students of Osmania University, who have been on an indefinite hunger strike demanding a separate Telangana state, were shifted to hospital on Monday after their health deteriorated.

The police first shifted five students in the early hours today. Six others, who gave a slip to the police and took shelter in the Arts College, were later admitted to Gandhi Hospital here even as a large number of slogan-shouting students put up stiff resistance.
The students of Osmania University, the epicentre of the separate Telangana agitation, have decided to hold Telangana Vidyardhi Maha Garjana on January 3.
Former director general of police P Ramulu, who expressed solidarity with the protesting students, appealed to them to protest in a peaceful way without causing inconvenience to public.
Meanwhile, Telugu Desam politburo member Nagam Janardhana Reddy demanded that the Congress MPs from the Telangana region quit their posts immediately to put pressure on its high command to act in favour of creation of a separate state.
Speaking to the media after a meeting of its leaders from Telangana here on Monday, he said all MLAs, who have submitted their resignations demanding separate statehood, would meet Assembly speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy in this regard.
The TDP has extended its support to the December 30 Telangana bandh call given by the Telangana Sadhana Joint Action Committee.
It has also extended support to the proposed students" rally here on January 3.
The Telugu Desam would also carry out its own programmes for a separate Telangana apart from taking part in the JAC struggle, according to Reddy.
